Jerusalem

And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty-three years reigned he in Jerusalem. (I Kings 2:11)
Jerusalem is mentioned over 800 times in the Tanakh and New Covenant.   Jerusalem is considered to be a holy place by the three major religions:  Judaism, Christianity and Islam. People from all over the world come to visit.
According to the Biblical Archaeology Review in June 2016, the Old City of Jerusalem was about 40 acres in the time of King Solomon 10th century BCE. The population was around 2,000.   Before the destruction of the second temple in 70 CE, Jerusalem covered an area of about 445 acres with the population of 20,000.  Nowadays, the Old City is a 217 acres walled area with a population of over 30,000 within the modern city of Jerusalem.
The Old City of Jerusalem, every corner of it bears witness to the tragedies of yesterday, the troubles of today, and the glories of tomorrow.

Psalm 122:6-7 tells us to pray for the well-being and peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers.”

Psalm 122: 1-7

1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the LORD.” 2 Our feet are standing n your gates, Jerusalem. 3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together. 4 That is where the tribes go up — the tribes of the LORD — to praise the name of the LORD according to the statute given to Israel. 5 There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. 6 Pray for the well-being and peace of Jerusalem: 7“May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers.
